Last updated September 2026. This extension enhances the map search and listing pages on homeexchange.com. Here is exactly what it does and doesn't do with your data.
In short: HomeExchange Viewer collects nothing. There is no server behind it, no analytics, and no data ever leaves your browser for anywhere except homeexchange.com itself — the site you are already using. The only thing it remembers is a single display preference, saved in your own browser.
What the extension does
HomeExchange Viewer is a content script that runs only on homeexchange.com. It reads the map and listing pages you already have open and adds two things to them:
- Colour, opacity and badge cues on map markers, based on availability, minimum-night requirements and response rate — all figures already shown on the page or returned by homeexchange.com's own search.
- An expanded photo grid and a redesigned lightbox on listing pages, built from the same photos homeexchange.com already loads for that listing.
To do that, it reads the search results homeexchange.com's own page has already loaded, and — when a home's photos aren't on the page yet — asks homeexchange.com's own API for that listing's photo list, using the session you are already signed in with. That request goes to homeexchange.com and nowhere else, and the answer is used only to show you the photos.
All of this happens inside your browser, on the page you're already viewing. Nothing is fetched from, or sent to, any server operated by the developer of this extension.

- We do not operate any server, database or analytics tool for this extension. The only server it ever talks to is homeexchange.com's own.

- We do not use cookies, trackers or third-party scripts.
- We do not read or modify anything on sites other than homeexchange.com.
